In this piece these are toronto gay men - enjoying some time out in the country - they are called "yorkies" because Toronto used to be called "York" and some parts of toronto still are called york. The stereotype of torontonians is they can be a bit cold, and self centered, but also beautiful - so this piece is meant to encapsulate that.
